Episode 21- Blue Print Series: FAITH

00:00 / 32:11

Have you developed a set of blueprints for your child’s character?

You wouldn’t think of dropping off a bunch of building materials at a constructions site and start to build without a blueprint in advance. What’s the foundation on which we are structuring their lives?

Faith is the foundation of our legacy. It enables us to give one of the most significant gifts of all to our children. It prepares them to die. Once we are prepared to die- we are free to live!

One mistake is to assume that training about the Christian faith will guarantee a desired result. We can provide a gospel centered home and allow the Holy Spirit to draw the child to Himself…on His timetable.

Ten Ways to Teach Your Children FAITH:
1. Let them find you reading your Bible every morning when they wake up.
2. Have them pray at meals and at bedtime.
3. Watch some of the great Christian movies which are now available with them, then discuss their feelings.
4. Trace the root of faith in their family tree. If you are a first generation believer, tell them your testimony.
5. Plant a garden and explain how you have to exercise patience and trust in God’s laws of nature.
6. Have them prepare a three minute testimony about their faith in God.
7. Have them share their testimony with a friend.
8. Remind them of answered prayer.
9. Pray for an unbelieving or sick friend or relative every day.
10. Using qualified professionals, take your older children through a course that emphasizes faith in a rope, learning such techniques as rock climbing or rappelling down a cliff. This should provide many word pictures to discuss topics like faith, trust, and responding to crisis.
